Adopt Core (ACORE) training meets the core competencies outlined in the Colorado Department of Human Services Child Welfare Practice Handbook. ACORE is taught by competent instructors in a church setting from a Christian perspective. The class covers the following:

•The Placement Process
•Administrative and Legal Issues
•Parenting and Family Issues
•Child Maltreatment
•Key Concepts of Growth and Development
•Individual Differences-Ethnicity and Culture
•Discipline
•The Importance of Creating a Team Approach
•Working with the Biological Family
•Effects of being in a Foster or Adoptive Family

Orphan Care Ministry Leadership Training

Orphan Care Ministry Leader (OCML) Training is for lay church leaders and pastors interested in starting an Orphan Care Ministry in the local church. The course helps to uncover the vision and mission of the ministry, how to communicate to the church staff and congregation, planning ideas and format, how to recruit and train volunteers and how to resource the ministry. The class is 4 hours and will give you an opportunity to meet other leaders interested in caring for the orphan and the parents that bring them into their homes.

The cost is $30.00 per kit (couples can share)

There will be no childcare available.

Project 1.27 Adoption Orientation

Orientation is for Adoptive Families and Support Team members. Both Parents Must Attend.

Here is what to expect:

For Adoptive Parents

  • Meet the staff of Project 1.27 and ask questions
  • Get an overview of the Child Welfare System and the “Adoption Track” process
  • Connect with local church support groups and resources to help you along the way
  • Learn who the waiting children and youth are and their needs

**Very Important!!** Be sure to bring your family (grandparents, etc.) and close friends. These people will be your biggest support. We can offer them training to answer their questions and teach them how to best support you on this journey!

For the Support Team

  • Learn more about different Support Team opportunities, some of which may be growing in your own church
  • Get plugged in and start helping adoptive families in their calling
  • Sign-up for “Support Teams” according to your interests and talents
