About Project 1.27
Back in December 2004 there were 875 children in Colorado foster care without a forever family to call their own. When we realized there were also over 3,000 churches in Colorado we were frustrated. The answer wasn’t rocket science. When we also learned about the turbulent life of a child or youth in foster care and that many end up forgotten, abused, in jail or homeless…we were furious. Not necessarily at the system but at the church’s lack of involvement. “The body of Christ needs to come together to make sure there are no children waiting for homes in Colorado. It is a travesty that we have kids waiting for homes in our own back yards. That should never be the case…” said Pastor Robert Gelinas in 2004. So we rolled up our sleeves and got to work. The result was Project 1.27 and what an amazing result it is. Check out our front page for the latest.
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans… in their distress. James 1:27
Project 1.27 is about God’s plan for families. We believe there should be a family for every child and youth available for adoption and a church for every family.
A New Way to Adopt in Colorado
For the first time in 70 years, the new partnership between the US Government and “Faith Based” groups has increased permanency for children in the foster care system.
Imagine an adoption program where the adoptive family does not have to walk this road alone! The families step forward, the church becomes an active partner, and Project 1.27 leads the way, by providing the following:
- Recruiting Christian families through the church community
- All state required parent training in churches around the state
- Organized support during the process and long after child placement
- Parent and child support groups and resources
- Prayer teams and a wide variety of assistance from the body of Christ
Four ways to get involved:
- Adoptive Families – Have you heard the call for adoption? Do you long to be a parent to a child or teen? Are you willing to offer your family to a child or teen who desperately needs one? If you are led to respond to all of these questions affirmatively then its time for you to get started with the first step. Sign up for our next orientation and invite your family and friends to come and support you.
- Support Teams – Not ready to adopt yourself but are ready to help those that do? Join us for an orientation too! Offer church based support and start or further develop an orphan care ministry in your church. Project 1.27 can help. Or offer individual support. Ccome help in our office or join a support team in your local church’s orphan ministry and directly impact new adoptive families and watch them succeed! These groups are growing in churches all over the state! Donate goods or services for adoptive families. Contact our office for more information.
- Partner-There are lots of partnering opportunities with Project 1.27
- Sponsors – Every $5000 helps us save one more life with the most cost effective ministry of its’ kind in the country. We have opportunities for churches, businesses and other organizations to invest in the future. Contact us or donate on line!
