About Project 1.27

In December 2004 there were 875 children legally available for adoption in the Colorado foster care system. We also knew there were over 3,000 churches in Colorado with members ‘called’ to adopt children. The solution wasn’t rocket science. How do we assist in connecting the children waiting for a ‘forever family’ with church members wanting to adopt and foster?

“The body of Christ needs to come together to make sure there are no children waiting for homes in Colorado. It is a travesty that we have kids waiting for homes in our own back yards. That should never be the case…” said Pastor Robert Gelinas in 2004. So we rolled up our sleeves and got to work. The result was Project 1.27. "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans… in their distress" James 1:27. Project 1.27 is about helping Christian parents adopt and foster children in Colorado’s foster care system. We believe there is a family for every child or youth who is waiting.

A New Way to Adopt and Foster in Colorado

Project 1.27 is an adoption and foster parent program that trains and supports adoptive and fostering families so the family does not have to walk the journey alone! Project 1.27 also partners with local churches to assist these families through the process.

Project 1.27 provides the following services:

Recruitment of Christian families interested in adoption or foster care
Host state required parent training in local churches
Administrative support and organization for the required paperwork
Help for church leaders in creating parent support groups and adoption resources in local churches.
Coaching and encouragement for parents as they engage the foster care system

Four ways to answer the command of James 1:27:

Become an Adoptive or Foster Family – Have you heard the call for adoption or fostering? Do you long to be a parent to a child or teen? Are you willing to offer yourself and your family to a child or teen that needs a family? If the answer is yes, then it's time for you to get started. Sign up for our next orientation and invite your family and friends to come and support you.
Be a Support Team member – Not ready to adopt yourself but want to help those that do? Join us for an orientation too! Offer your support to a family going through the adoption/fostering process and/or assist in a church-based support group for the adoptive/fostering members of your congregation. Project 1.27 assists in getting an Orphan Care Ministry started at your local church.
Become a Partner-There are several partnering opportunities with Project 1.27
